The Insurance Institute of Switzerland, in terms of a long-term strategy, will be included in the national education strategy. For this purpose, all activities will be transfered to the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW), the School of Management and Law, are about to be set up at the Institute for Risk & Insurance. The IIS is consequently in liquidation.

"Legal persons", as companies are called in the legal language, have similar characteristics to a natural person. If you look closely, you will find a kind of "personality", an "appearance", a "performance" and much more. To steer this "legal personality" optimally is an art in itself and is anchored in the so-called "Enterprise Risk Management Process".
Over the years, enterprise risk management has increasingly moved from the obvious topic of hazard risks to the core and the central task of a company. The time Risk Managers and their image of hindrance and warning is over, the time of the pure insurance department, which additionally does "Risk Management", is over. Gone are the days of the negative view of the word risk.
That's a good point, because what could be more positive than managing the core of a company in the most careful, sustainable and profitable way possible for everyone involved? What the natural person's personality development is, is the company's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM).
What exactly does that mean? ERM is the systematic consideration of all opportunities and threats of a company. ERM includes the conceptual work and the implementation behind the guidelines, which strengthen, guide, accompany and promote the company in its objectives. ERM determines leadership in difficult times, because those who plan and decide carefully tend to fail better and get up more quickly. But ERM is also self-critical and reforms itself when necessary.
All these activities and aspects should also be part of our personality development.
But ERM goes one step further, because ERM is quantitative and qualitative brainwork and implementation. ERM makes companies systematically better. ERM is the tool to bring all important stakeholder concerns to a sensible line with the corporate task and objectives. ERM is also the tool to shape the benefits and the paths of an activity in such a way that transparency about it no longer leads to disaster, but advances the standard for "GOOD" and helps others to follow through. But ERM is also the process that protects the enterprise and builds resilience against maliciousness in political and economic reality. ERM is clever, strong, honest, analytical and awake. ERM is a cutting-edge tool for ALL who want to meet the challenges of our times and approach them systematically. ERM should not only be a booster for those who think they are too insignificant to make a contribution but also a catalysator to bring inflated power in context and demonstrate respect for long-term goals.
The IIS has been teaching ERM for almost 20 years and we know the challenge to move within the thought networks of ERM and to identify, present or just address the interrelationships.
Now we are taking the next step in teaching ERM. The program goes online and at the same time reaches professional reality even better. This is how ERM works.
