FAQ
Which prerequisites and/or requirements are compulsory for the AU training?
There are no prerequisites or requirements to a certain specialized level needed. However, because the course material is written in English, your English knowledge must be good. It is nevertheless recommendable to have some experience in the underwriting or insurance industries. Additionally, you need to keep up a studying rhythm and discipline to finalize this Diploma.
What is the recommended amount of time necessary for this course and per module?
Per Module: Around 4-6 hours per week are recommended to get an overview on each assignment in the text book. (about 30-50 pages per week). Additional time one needs to set aside to recap and prepare for the test. Before starting these studies, please be aware to carefully schedule the 4-6 month period per module so that you have enough time alongside your vocational and personal activities.
For the Diploma: You may develop slowly all the aspects of underwriting along this training. It is even recommended to applying and training on the job between the modules. You may strech the studying period as needed and in line with your career path. The training journey in underwriting is a key factor to transfering the knowledge to your job.
What requirements are needed to achieve the AU Diploma?
The only requirement for attaining the AU Diploma is to succeed in the 4 written exams of AINS 23, AU 60, 61 and 62. Additionally you need to fulfil the Online Training and Exam on Ethics. There are no oral exams and no reports to be written.
Is it possible to book a study group?
If you desire to find other students pursuing the same goal, we will try to support you. If we are successful you may book our small training location at Häringstrasse for CHF 20.00 per hour to offer you a meeting point in the center of Zürich.
How are the examinations arranged? Can they be repeated?
There are 4 test windows offered per year. They are from January 15 - March 14, from April 15 - June 15, from July 15 - September 14 and, from October 15 - December 14 each year. The examinations may be taken in a random sequence and may be repeated. In any case, please contact the IIS to organise and order your exam.
